I just read a wonderful
article about a film released last year. "
Lemonade Stories" tells of the unheralded role of Moms in entrepreneurs' lives.
As I read the
quotations from each of the interviewed entrepreneurs, I can see they have very similar Moms to mine. A major theme that emerges is a Mom's belief "when no one else believes" in the entrepreneur. This support turns out to be the last push needed to tip the entrepreneur to success. I can personally attest to the role of my own Mom, Leela. All my life, I have received nothing but love and total support from her. No matter what I pursued growing up, she always stood by me . And when I've fallen flat on my face, she helped me dust myself off and get back in the game. This has been especially true over the last number of years as a Bootstrapping entrepreneur. Her faith, belief and support have truly kept me going, most
Additionally, these Moms are very independent and risk-takers themselves. When we moved from India to Taiwan, my Mom started teaching as a way to create a second income for the family. She fell into her passion and got her Masters in Early Childhood Education in the US, studying over multiple summers. Her exposure to the American system of education convinced her that her three sons would go to American universities - a seemingly impossible goal at the time. And yet, two decades later, all three of us have done just that. Of course, I know she would not have been able to do it without the total support of my Dad, who went along with her crazy schemes.
Thank you Mom and Dad!
